Issues

The Department of the Premier and Cabinet delivers a range of educational events, and with demand growing for the two-hour courses and multi-day seminars, the Department needed the support of a scalable event management system to lower overheads. Up until this point, the course administration had been manually managed using Outlook.

Solution

Designing and developing a custom event management system called GEMS, we delivered a solution that seamlessly integrated with the government’s accounts department. GEMS enables:

• Recording of event details, attendees and payments
• Tracking of catering and room bookings
• Direct interface with the Office of Shared Services (OSS) through EDI
• OSS invoices and receipts to be made available for forwarding to attendees

Benefits

Embracing this scalable system, the Department of the Premier and Cabinet is now able to provide better services to event lecturers and attendees, keeping them updated with notification emails. And as a government department, they are fully equipped to support the OSS Payment System.

Its success also attracted the attention of the Department of Treasury & Finance, who were quick to act and implement the same system.
